Dutch Initiative Reveals Virtual Replication to Counter Online Risks

-

A digital twin is being developed to defend against grid cyber security attacks. The twin, created by the Dutch demonstrator in an attempt to provide resilience to cyber attacks, will provide real-time data and insights on grid security that will enable stakeholders to know when the grid is being attacked and help mitigate future attacks.

Thus, through these digital twins, those overseeing grid maintenance can stop failures and improve grid restoration after downtime. The undertaking is part of the eFORT project, which Horizon Europe funds and aims to improve grid resilience and security in Europe.

Developing a digital twin that virtually replicates the electric grid is an interesting use case for twins in improving critical infrastructure security and mitigating cyber attacks due to their real-time data outputs.
