Shell Collaborates with Akselos for Advanced Asset Management using Digital Twin Technology

-

Akselos and Shell Information Technology have signed a strategic agreement to use digital twins to manage Shell’s oil and gas portfolio. The Swiss-based company Akselos will use structural performance management (SPM) to monitor and manage vital shell assets in real time.

The digital twins will be used on projects such as the Shell Scotford Complex in Canada, a hydrocarbon processing site and oil refinery, among other uses.

The partnership will position Akselos as Shell’s primary supplier of digital twin software. The structural performance management software aims to improve the lifecycle and performance of Shell assets over time, saving the oil and gas giant time and costs in maintaining critical assets.

Maximizing output is also a key benchmark for the partnership, with Akselos’s SPM essential in ensuring energy sites are at peak performance throughout their lifecycle. Through this collaboration, Shell is cementing itself as a leader in deploying digital twin technology, shaping the energy industry.
